2019 University Games

UDs in preparatory mode

Dschang,UDs/SIC-08/08/18. A 9 man delegation of experts from the Ministry of Higher Education were today the 8^th of August 2018 on a working mission with the members of UDs Chancellery Council and  DCOU in view of the 2019 university games to be hosted in the institution. This meeting lays a platform for the exchange of ideas on the working modalities of a successful hosting of university games come 2019. In his opening speech, the Vice-chancellor Prof Roger Tsafack Nanfosso highlighted the fact that UDs will be hosting it for the fourth time and therefore the forum is meant to bring in new life and spirit. He brought out the fact that UDs is the only State University present in six of the ten regions of Cameroon, there will be need for decentralization of the hosting in its various campuses. In this light, the VC stated that the 2019 hosting is a “Jeux de Nouveaux” ie with a vision of decentralization in a spirit of collective dynamism, and multiplicity of competitions. The head of the delegation, Mrs Wanah Litumbe brought out the essence of collaborative efforts with UDs.  She stated that, UDs is charged with designing the theme, anthem, vase for the Olympic flame, opening parade and setting up of the local organizing team. She advised on modalities of canvassing support for a successful hosting. After a fruitful exchange between MINESUP and UDs, some resolutions were  adopted including; an immediate inspection of the available infrastructure of the three proposed campuses for the games, define the vision of decentralization and multiplicity in the competition  and present a project proposal of the forth-coming games to  the Ministry. The preparatory session ended with a family picture to immortalize the event.
