2023 uniRank of Universities in Cameroon

UDs clinches 1^st position  

Dschang,UDS/SIC31/07/23.The University of Dschang retained its first position among the ranked universities in Cameroon in the 2023 uniRanking of universities. UDs sees itself top out of the 16 ranked Cameroonian higher-education institutions. The uniRank answers the question of the most popular universities in the world by publishing the 2023 world University Ranking. The uniRank selection criteria is as follows: being chartered, licensed or accredited by the appropriate Cameroonian higher education-related organization, offering at least three-year bachelor’s degrees or postgraduate master’s or doctoral degrees, delivering courses predominantly in a traditional, non-distance education format. The uniRank systems, aims to provide a non-academic League Table of the top Universities and Colleges based on valid, unbiased and non-influenceable web metrics provided by independent web intelligence sources rather than data submitted by the Universities themselves with the ranking  published  twice a year.

 During the 2023 ranking session this July 2023, the University of Dschang clinched 1^st position, followed by the University of Yaoundé I, while the University of Buea grabbed 3^rd place, this was followed by  University of Ngaoundéré 4^th, Institut Catholique de Yaoundé 5^th, Université de Douala 6^th, the University of Yaoundé II 7^th,  Université des Montagnes 8^th, Université de Maroua 9^th and the University of Bamenda in 10^th position among others.

 It is worthy to mention that 4ICU also ranks universities on social media such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, twitter, tiktok and linkedin. The University of Dschang during this ranking secured 1^st position in the use of twitter with (3423 followers), the university of Buea comes 2^nd with 3193 followers and the University of Maroua 3rd with 2126 followers. On instagram, UDs is first with 1,596 followers and 293 posts and is ranked 2^nd on Facebook (28539) after the University of Ngaoundéré which has 45000 followers. The University of Dschang comes 3^rd on YouTube with (222 subscribers and 724 average views per videos) behind the University of Ngaoundéré with 327 subscribers and 1207 average views per video and Université des Montagnes with 235 subscribers and 1475 average views per video comes.

According to the uniRank database in 2023 there are currently 1,279 officially recognized higher-education institutions in Africa. Considering that the uniRank database includes a total number of 13,837 officially recognized higher education institutions the proportion of African Universities in the world. According to the 2023 uniRank University Ranking of African universities, most of the top Universities in Africa are located in South Africa. In the list of the top 10 Universities in Africa, for example, 7 are located in South Africa, 2 in Egypt and 1 in Kenya. With the first 3 being South African universities,4^th Kenyan ,5^th and 6^th Egyptian,7^th to 9^th South African and 10^th Egyptian.
