4 key axes underline the 1st ever multidisciplinary colloquium

UDs Council Chair, Prof Paul Celestin Ndembiyembe accentuates
Yaoundé, UDs/SIC-07/05/21. With the piracy of 500 plane tickets of Camair-Co in 2011, 7 public administration websites being victims of web defacement attacks, 34 government sites attacked by malware in 2015-2017, several hundred cases of identity theft including those of 182 members of the government and around 4 billion in economic losses linked to scamming there is need for continuous actions in the fight against cyber criminality in the cyber space. As such, during the launching ceremony of the 1st ever multidisciplinary colloquium on cyber criminality and cyber security in Cameroon and Africa, the University of Dschang’s Council Chair, Prof Paul Celestin Ndembiyembe during a brief chat with the press, stated that the colloquium had 4 key principal axes. He made it known that the hosting of such a colloquium is first, a strategy in joining the fight against cyber criminality and reinforcing cyber security. Secondly, he reiterated that this was in prelude to the opening of a Professional Masters programme in cyber criminality and cyber security and a platform to formulate recommendations for future practical policies in the fight against cyber criminality in the country and Africa at large. The Council chair emphasized that the question on cyber criminality did not only concern individuals but also enterprises and the State .Finally , the University of Dschang is playing its role in the pedagogic brainstorming on the fight against cyber criminality and the reinforcement of cyber security. Hosted under the prescription of the Head of government, the colloquium stems into the vast campaign on cyber criminality and proper use of social networks. The multidisciplinary exchange as he mentioned is in line with the national policy in the fight against cyber criminality as such this banquet of intellectuals and experts present, will dwell on scientific and intellectual reflections to help structure the proper use of cybers space./
