UDs and the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Service sign MoU
Dschang,UDs/SIC-21/02/22. A 6-man delegation from the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Service led by the Director of Health Service, Prof Tih Pius constituted the team that witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Dschang and the CBCHS today 21st February 2022 at the Chancellery hall. During the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Roger Tsafack Nanfosso highlighted that core values of the institution as well as the academic paradigm of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences and its quest to improve at all levels. He stated the value of caring for persons with disabilities in his institutions and physiotherapy. programme.
The Director of Health Services, Prof Tih during the ceremony emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Dschang and CBCHS stems on the premise of an agreement support to the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University for a Masters training programme in physiotherapy and Occupational therapy. The Mou offer support to the University of Dschang with trainers and lecturers to ensure the teaching of Occupational therapy, kick start the Occupational Therapy as a discipline in the University, make available CBCHS infrastructure for internship for learners and students from the University, and the sponsorship of some students who meet the admission criteria.
The partnership agreement will go a long way to encourage and improve the quality of rehabilitation services especially for persons with disabilities in the country and strengthen the training of physiotherapists in Cameroon.
It is worth noting that the CBCHS is the medical department of the CBC with close to 6000 employees operating 8 hospitals, 1 central pharmacy, 32 health centers, 57 primary health centers spread around the country offering holistic health care services including preventive ,curative and rehabilitation care among other programs .
The signing ceremony ended with an intense exchange session with staff from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences led by the Dean, Prof Choukem Simeon Pierre and members of the CBCHS delegation on the way forward for a degree programme in OT in future and ways to concretize the MoU. This is surely a win/win scenario for both the University of Dschang and the Cameroon Baptist Convention health services for the improvement in health services. /
