Italian Language Week

UDs  joins in the celebration

Dschang,UDs/SIC-15/10/24.The Hon. Joseph Fondjo University Auditorium played host to the 24^th edition of the International Week of the Italian language. This week was organized by the Department of Foreign and Applied Languages of the Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences, under the coordination of Prof Colbert AKIEUDJI in collaboration with the regional inspectors of MINESEC from the North West and West Regions. This annual event which is to run from the 14^th to the 20^th October 2024 is under the patronage of the Italian Ambassador to Cameroon and is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the richness of Italian culture. The event in Dschang with UDs being the regional pole regroups all Italian language actors from the Northwest and West Region, thus bringing together regional pedagogic inspectors of the Italian language, university and secondary school students (Lycée Classique and Bilingual) among a host of Italian language teachers and linguistic centres.

This annual event kick started on the 14^th with a film projection titled la stanza del figlio de Nanni Moretti , which was presented by Dr NKOMBONG TSAMO Boniface, was geared towards projecting the splendour and class of the Italian language.

During the opening ceremony, the Head of the Department of LEA, Prof  Tandia  Mouafou JJ Rousseau called on the participants to avail the opportunity of studying in the University of Dschang as it has one of the best Italian lecturers in the country and abroad. He lauded the Italian language and highlighted that it was very melodic in its nature.

Prof Kouosseu Jules (Vice-Dean) representing the Dean FLSH applauded the efforts of the coordinator and all the pedagogic inspectors for organising such a colourful event and underscore the innovative aspect of the Department with the introduction of Chinese language as one of its courses.

Activities  followed suite  a roundtable conference  under the theme la lettura nell insegnament/apprendimenta delia lingua italiana in camerun with interventions by Dr Defotsing NITEDJE serge ,M.Yepmou Nouguep Eric, Bayeck Mandeng Robert and Mme BODJIE Sayab Chanceline,SIGAP Theophile and moderated by Prof Akieudji. The event was crowned with a cocktail and cultural presentations of students from the Italian University center, secondary schools and the Clevertrans to once more mark a boast in the Italian language and culture in Cameroon.
