Oath taking ceremony; Act IV

Academic pledge by freshmen and postgraduate students

UDs-SIC- 10/11/18: The entire university community watched with splendour, one of the most colourful parade and sacramental part of the re-opening ceremony, with over 90 students solemnly taking the oath of commitment for academic excellence on behalf of their peers, marking the official commencement of the 2018/2019 academic year in UDs. The oath taking took place in two shifts, coordinated by Mr.  Fominin Jean and Ninkeu Herve, both from the Directorate of Students’ Welfare. The First phase on the one hand, was marked by a session by freshmen, who pledged to remain disciplined in the course of their studies in conformity with the motto of the University “Scholae Thesaurus Dschangensis Ibi Cordum”. The postgraduate students on the other hand reaffirmed their respect for scientific ethics and took the commitment to conduct research that will be valuable, innovative and development-oriented as prescribed by the ‘Dschang schools.

This ceremonial, which can be likened to the matriculation ceremony in Anglosaxon universities stands out to be the peculiarity of Pr Tsafack Nanfosso and falls within the canons of the collective dynamics. / MRZ
