Center of the 2020/2021 General Assembly of Teaching staff
Dschang,UDs/SIC-14/10/20.The General Assembly for teaching staff of the University of Dschang which took place on the 14th October 2020 at the Conference Center of the university and presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Roger Tsafack Nanfosso, had at center of discussion 5 salient points: pedagogy, infrastructural development, Welfare, innovations and projections for the current academic year. This assembly was the first for the newly recruited 150 Assistant lecturers who enriched themselves about the opportunities in the citadel of learning. During his opening word, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the university counted a total of 644 teaching staff with 178 Assistant lecturers ,243 Senior Lecturers, 156 Associate professors and 67 full Professors .
He saluted the level of course work covered during the last academic year despite the COVID-19 pandemy. Highlighting that over 23,643 certificates have been signed so far by the Minister and would be handed over to laureates in due course. He praised the over 10 articles on COVID-19 published in international journals by university lecturers and lauded the Faculty of Agronomy and Agricultural Sciences which had received International Recognition by AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) .Prof Roger Tsafack emphasized on the creation of a Dschang University Press and appreciated the financial support allotted for infrastructural development, support of the teaching staff during the period of the pandemy and high internet speed connection in all the university campuses that harbor students. As concerns Welfare, he cautioned on the need for a responsible consumption of insurance package and expressed satisfaction over no infection results of the 500 COVID 19 test conducted .The head of the institution advocated for the continuous use of new technology (e-learning) during the pandemy but cautioned on the abusive use of social media. Highlighting the 3 innovations so far: the botanical garden, The Pierre Castel training project for FASA students and the project on the erection of a University Teaching Hospital at the District Hospital, he concluded by encouraging Assistant Lecturers to work hard and change grade .The vice chancellor invited them to join in supporting the Dschang University Foundation, GIE/SA and the Botanical garden project. The assembly ended with a satisfactory exchange session, a family picture and a dinner offered by the VC to the staff./
