The 3rd edition kicks off in grand style
Dschang,UDs/SIC-10/11/17.The atmosphere of the Dschang campus on the 10th of November 2017 vibrated under the rhythm of the reopening ceremony of the 2017/2018 academic year. The first phase of this solemn program was characterized by a procession by staff of the DCOU, Assistant lecturers, Lecturers, Associate professors and Professors from the Flag Mast of UDs. The ceremony proper began at 11.00 a.m at the amphi 1000 in the presence of administrative, religious, traditional leaders and the entire university community with an ecumenical prayer led by the Muslim Iman and the chaplain of the University chapel. The intense program characterized by speeches, oath taking, and reading of lectures was all punctuated by musical, theatre and choreographically presentations by the UDs students. A welcome speech from the Deputy Mayor of the Dschang Council Prof. Emile Temgoua who welcomed all present to the legendary town of Dschang whose pride is its university. Some University authorities present were presented among whom were honorary Vice chancellors like Prof Beban Sammy Chumbow, (Present Board chair UDs), Prof Rémy Sylvestre Bouelet, Prof Anaclet Fomethe and members of the chancellery board. The oath taking session, one of the key moments of the ceremony followed with freshmen of all the branches of UDs accepting to abide to the tenets of; responsibility, respect of rules, creative and innovative spirit. An innovation this year, in this light was the PhD students who also pledged hard work and constructive research for to keep the banner of the University of Dschang high. Prof Wanda Robert, Director of Academic Affairs made known to the public some emblematic fields distinct to the University of Dschang, these were in fields like Urbanism, nutrition, law political science and ongoing information and communication fields .The Director highlighted that UDs had 88 new PhD holders with 17 from FSEG, 10 from FSJP, 37 from the Faculty of Sciences,18 from the Faculty of Letters and Social sciences and 6 from FASA while the two best students from all the faculties were awarded a sum of 25.000 Frs. for the bachelor degrees and 35,000 Frs for the Masters level. The floor was then given to Prof Jean Raphael Kana, a lecturer at FASA/UDs for the inaugural lesson who shared on the theme “The Contribution of Alternative food sources and the consolidation of the Poultry field in Cameroon”. The ambience of the official reopening is expected the radiate the principles of the institution as it years to produce the minds in the country./
