UDs Hosts 1st Ever CHAZU Zone D

A Resounding Start
Dschang,UDs/SIC-28/04/25.The Olympic Stadium of the University of Dschang served as the vibrant venue for the official launch of the Zonal University Championship Zone D on April 26th , 2025. This groundbreaking event was inaugurated by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, and President of the Federal Council, Prof Jacques FAME NDONGO. The launch was filled with impressive displays, choreography, and fan club performances, all adding to the event’s festive atmosphere.
Key dignitaries attended the ceremony, including the 3rd Deputy Mayor of the Dschang Council, Dr. Jerry Landry TOUKAM KOUAHOU, who, in his welcome address, highlighted the city’s touristic appeal and celebrated the long-standing developmental efforts made by both the University and the Council over the years.
In his speech, the Minister of State lauded the late Rector of the University of Dschang, Prof. Louis DONGMO, for his visionary leadership in the creation of the Olympic Stadium, which now hosts such major events. Describing the CHAZU as a significant innovation, the Minister emphasized that it brings together both public and private institutions, fostering inclusion, fraternity, and the pursuit of excellence. He noted that the CHAZU is no longer just a competition; it is a platform for discovering skills, improving talents, and promoting personal values, discipline, respect, and resilience through sport.
The event kicked off with an exhilarating opening spectacle, featuring a dynamic fusion of dance steps that captivated the audience. The closing phrase of the performance, “Let’s be disciplined; it’s just a game,” perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the competition. This was followed by a grand march pass of the participating delegations, including IESF Dschang, IUMDD/ISTEC Banganté, Université des Montagnes-Banganté, UBa, and UDs, as well as volunteers, peer educators from FENASU, and the fanfare.
The opening football match pitted the host, UDs, against IESF, with UDs securing a 1-0 victory. The second match, featuring the female UDs team against UBa, ended in a 2-1 defeat for the host institution. Following the football matches, a range of other sporting disciplines kicked off, as participants eagerly anticipate the finalists who will compete at the FINAJU.
With a strong start, the 2025 CHAZU Zone D promises to be an exciting and highly competitive event, fostering camaraderie and showcasing sporting talent across various disciplines./RN
