Dschang,UDs/SIC-03/03/25.Professor Jean-Marie Fotsing is a university professor and researcher in geography, currently based at the University of New Caledonia (UNC). A specialist in spatial planning and territorial development, he is renowned for his work on spatial dynamics and environmental challenges, particularly in the Pacific region.
Originally from Cameroon, Professor Fotsing began his academic journey in geography, a field in which he quickly distinguished himself. He earned his PhD in 1985 before achieving the highest academic rank with his Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) in 1998. His career has led him to teach and conduct research in several universities around the world.
Academic Career and Research
Professor Fotsing has held professorial positions at various institutions, including:

His work primarily focuses on territorial planning issues, socio-environmental transformations, and sustainable development in island regions.
